2D to 3D Illustrations for Cosmonavt
I stumbled upon a quote that will ring true to everyone who's started their own business:
When you grow, your business grows with you.
We were in the process of creating version 3 of the branding and website for Cosmonavt. And what better way to present the growth of your business than with a brand new set of graphical assets to use across the studio's communication?
It's part of the reason why we’re constantly updating the studio's brand, website, and graphics. We wanted the assets we use to better represent our beliefs and artistic ability, while staying useful and usable by the whole studio.
Today, they live across the Cosmonavt website, presentations, social media and other marketing materials!
2D to 3D
Let's see how they transformed and what they symbolize:
Rocket
One of the main symbols of Cosmonavt — the rocket is essential to the studio's visual library as the vehicle to take a business to a new frontier, helping it reach a new level, and defying gravity.
Before / 3D Viewport / After

Cosmonaut
The cosmonaut stands for our team finding and conquering new frontiers, flag planted on fresh ground. In 3D, the flat outline became a rounded figure in a glossy purple suit.

Design
Design services, represented by a pencil sketching across a grid. The line drawing turned into a solid pencil that blends from purple to lime.

Finding Solutions
A spyglass looking at an X — we look thoroughly before we come up with a recommendation or a solution.

We Listen
When our clients talk, we listen, record, review, then review again. It's a core principle for how we approach working with people.

Design is Magic
Design is magic, and every magician needs a wand.

Design is Magic 2
Design as magic you can hold in your hand.

We Observe
We observe carefully and dig deep to find the right solution.

You Are At The Center
A hand pointing straight at you, because you are at the center. The outline became a chunky 3D hand with a purple-to-orange gradient.

Branding, Strategy & Motion
We noticed we were missing a few crucial ones: Strategy, Brand & Motion.
The 3D Illustrations In Use
A couple of years ago, I designed the original set of icons we used on Cosmonavt materials everywhere - social posts, website, branding for events, in sales presentations, and offers alike. For v2 of our icons, we wanted to rebuild the 2D versions into 3D from scratch and expand the set.

An Icon Set As A System
Visual assets are meant to work on their own, but they're also a part of a brand's system, meaning they have to work together too. They display a cohesive style, don't overwhelm each other, and make an impression.
